Thanks for the intel. Looks like we'll miss SFO by about nine days. Have another trip in February on SQ . . . would be nice if they're open for that.

Fingers crossed - ORD Polaris will open Dec 4… being too optimistic probably.

IAH is consistent with what a UC agent in IAH E club told a relative of mine yesterday "End of November", I find that LAX timeline very interesting. I still don't think there's enough traffic to justify it but hey I'm definitely not complaining

LAX timeline may also be driven by *A LAX partner international flights.

But that's such a far walk. As nice as LAX's PL is, I can't see myself walking from TBIT to T7 especially when TBIT has a perfectly potent and high quality lounge for *A flyers. Unless there's plans to relocate JV partners to T7 I find it hard to be *A partner driven.

Not disagreeing but part of what Polaris offers to its *A partner flights is the option to have PL access from the departure city: (https://www.united.com/ual/en/us/fly...q/polaris.html)

  • Who can use the United Polaris lounge?

Customers traveling in United Polaris business class on long-haul international flights may access the lounge before departure, during connections or upon arrival. Customers traveling in international first or business class cabins on Star AllianceTM partner airlines may access the lounge only at the airport of their international departure. Please reference the Club and Lounge Access page for more information.

I guess, I mean if they do believe that many people will walk half a mile just for the PL over the *A lounge then cool for them. Im definitely happy to have the lounge open for the 5 people flying Polaris from LAX that will get to use the PL. I suppose it can also be used by people coming from a polaris flight elsewhere and same-day connecting to LAX.

Well, as a LAX UA flyer, I've done exactly that - LAX PL -> SFO PL -> SYD.

It will feel like the Global First lounge at LAX used to. I don't think there were ever more than 10 people in there for my evening LHR flights.

Some do this already, and the PL is (IMO) several notches better than the Star Business lounge, and a cut above the F lounge. If UA secures incremental visits from partners ($$$) then all the better. I assume UA is planning for greater capactiy to Australia soon, as well.

Oh boy, the T7-TBIT 'walk discussion' again...some people will do it / some people won't, let's move on...

Definitely. Seeing some flights filling up near Christmas and this will only continue (for eligible folks, of course).

That's a much more likely explanation.

It's not even that bad. I would make the walk to TBIT to avoid the UCs during long layovers on my way to the islands.
