My bigger concern now is Denver. With one of the two lounges now out of service indefinitely, what is UA planning to do for its lounge members at what is, at times lately, its busiest hub? The lack of a pop-up lounge while East is being renovated (and rumors that there will be no lounge at the forthcoming new concourse A gates), the situation there is pretty bad and will (IMO) surpass EWR as the worst hub for UC members.

When I see this thread bumped up, I eagerly open it in hopes of news about the GUM United Club.

That is awesome news about PHL and SEA, all we need is DCA, and we’re almost there!

I bet if one adds up the revenue being paid by Polaris passengers in 2019 and does the same for 2021, one would find a spectacular difference. I'm guessing (besides far fewer Polaris flights) the amount of upgrade passengers per flight is higher than normal. There's a certain fixed cost of opening/operating the PLs. You may see a full flight, but UA sees far fewer flights and far fewer of the higher business travel fares they saw two years ago. There's a reason Polaris equipped a/c are available to fly to/from Hawaii - it's because they're not flying 5 times a day to (an example destination) LHR from EWR or 2x from SFO and IAH, 1x from LAX and DEN, multiple other times from IAD and ORD.. Maybe UA should convert the EWR PL to a UC for the time being - that would be incredibly convenient (considering location).
It's no different than buying the upgraded model of a car and they leave a few of the upgrade features off because they ran out. Or if a cruise ran out of liquor.
I said this 9 months ago and someone else mentioned it a few posts ago - using the Polaris Lounge as a temporary United Club would be a great idea. Did the Polaris Lounge have more capacity than the pop-up lounge does? If so, they could close the pop-up and use those staff members at what would be the C121 UC.

This isn't about high-revenue full-fare J pax vs Leisure Z and P pax. This is about not being able to provide the service advertised as included in the ticket price. I'm assuming that UA pulled the Polaris Lounge inclusion from the sale of Polaris Lounge tickets and replaced it with the United Club. Fine, but then you need to be able to offer UA Club access to those guests. Simply denying someone of what they paid for because they didn't pay more for it isn't an excuse.

Of course, they should have already opened up Terminal A, and expanded the hours of the pop up as well. As someone mentioned above, the sole C74 Club is like a Superspreader event in the works - Packed with practically no masking due to food/drink consumption.
While United Marketing material all over the airport urges everyone to keep at least 6 feet apart.
They don't care.

Show me anything that says PL lounge is promised (or even advertised) with purchase of a ticket today. And that there is no language saying certain services/amenities aren't available.

Customers can visit United Polaris lounges at Chicago O’Hare, Houston Intercontinental, Los Angeles, New York/Newark and San Francisco. Over the course of the next few years, lounges will open at Washington Dulles, Hong Kong, London Heathrow and Tokyo Narita. The United Polaris lounges are available exclusively to our international premium cabin travelers, offering a thoughtful selection of amenities — such as signature seating, a relaxation area and showers — to help you prepare for your flight.

http://united.com/polaris (which redirects to https://view.ceros.com/united/polari...ness-class/p/1)
Your journey starts in our modern, elegant United Polaris lounge, where you can relax, recharge, or engage in a quiet work session until it's time for takeoff.
Yes, the first link has a vague "...some features of United Polaris business class have changed or may be unavailable right now..." disclaimer but it's not at all clear to the casual viewer that that means the entire "United Polaris lounge" heading might as well be stricken.

To this point, work put me on bom-ewr-lax (or rather I was) in January in J and I happily switched to a bom-zrh-lax routing. From the questionable status of the polaris lounge, to the disastrous food I'm seeing on the let's eat thread, to the equipment downgrade for a near 16 hour flight, Im happy to switch and maybe Im being picky but that does make a difference. AA has reopened a flagship lounge and more coming very soon. Where's United? We are back in 2016 with the United clubs prior to a business class flight.
