Can't wait to see what (if anything) is done with the VIP section (former GFL) when the main UC re-opens.

Denver East is now closed for a long-term renovation project. Unclear whether a pop-up or another lounge will open to augment this significant loss of capacity.

I'm guessing (besides far fewer Polaris flights) the amount of upgrade passengers per flight is higher than normal. There's a certain fixed cost of opening/operating the PLs. You may see a full flight, but UA sees far fewer flights and far fewer of the higher business travel fares they saw two years ago. There's a reason Polaris equipped a/c are available to fly to/from Hawaii - it's because they're not flying 5 times a day to (an example destination) LHR from EWR or 2x from SFO and IAH, 1x from LAX and DEN, multiple other times from IAD and ORD.. Maybe UA should convert the EWR PL to a UC for the time being - that would be incredibly convenient (considering location).
I get that, but clubs in itself aren't built to generate revenue. The problem with EWR is that UA can't even offer their Polaris customers or Gold or UC members access in EWR. Couldn't find a seat with me and my wife, tried to go to the "pop-up" club as it was scheduled to open at 15:30 and by 15:45, literally every seat was taken and it looked like a border housing complex in there............absolute mess. All this focus on the customer and bragging about being the most premium seats in the sky, but they can't offer a matching product on the ground. At a minimum, if the focus is gonna be on the customer, EWR PL could open for a 13:00-22:00 time frame, when you have your excess amount of passengers.

I'm glad to see that AA is reopening Flagship Lounges, and I hope UA follows soon, but it begs a question: do we want to see UA monetize the Polaris Lounge?

I just forwarded that email from AA to UA GS with an "in case you missed it" introduction. It's hard for them to use COVID protocols as an excuse to be down to one club at EWR when that club is wall-to-wall people indoors for several hours in the afternoon. C75 currently is its own potential super-spreader event on a daily basis from what I can tell from my brief visits to that club over the course of the summer.

I hope that they don't monetize the Polaris Lounge. But they need to get the other UA Clubs (at minimum) re-opened at EWR. Perhaps, they could do a limited Polaris Lounge operation from 3pm-8pm to accommodate the TATL flights? I recognize the mornings will not busy until TPAC meaningfully resumes.

But that could be a major part of the reason AA is reopening the Flagship Lounges. Not sure you can separate the two.

I think there are two things they can do at EWR in the short term, but neither will really move the needle. First is to expand the hours of the pop-up club outside of the late afternoon rush, and second is to reopen the Terminal A club. The A lounge, in particular, won't do much considering that JetBlue now has around half of the old UAX gates (fewer flights for UA), but it's a start. Sadly, I think we are stuck with the status quo, poor lounge slate at EWR until at least next year when the new C-3 club opens.

My bigger concern now is Denver. With one of the two lounges now out of service indefinitely, what is UA planning to do for its lounge members at what is, at times lately, its busiest hub? The lack of a pop-up lounge while East is being renovated (and rumors that there will be no lounge at the forthcoming new concourse A gates), the situation there is pretty bad and will (IMO) surpass EWR as the worst hub for UC members.

I agree. Clearly, augmenting qualifying passenger access with fee-paid visits is driving this reopening. I am curious to see whether the previously high-quality offerings (especially at FFD) are diluted.

Not feeling hopeful for the FCO-EWR leg on 10/21. Any lounge, pretty sure the onward UX (CRJ-550) is leaving from A, based on recent history.

If UA is flying a CRJ-550 FCO-EWR we have bigger worries than Polaris lounges

(Sorry...jet lag is catching up with me) -- it may not be a PL but you will definitely have access to lounges in C...whether you want to access those lounges is of course debatable...

Onward UX - FCO-STL... FCO-EWR went form a 763 to a 773 about 6 weeks ago. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

Looks like LAX Polaris Lounge won’t re-open this year. LAX-LHR scheduled to resume just got axed for rest of year. Not surprising, I guess…

When UA said 3PLs in Q4, given the TAPC situation, LAX and SFO seemed out of the running even then. With the deteriorating TATL / business travel, suspect the 3 PLs in Q4 is unlikely now. 1 or 2??
TSA comps to 2019 are still falling, 7-day trailing average is down to 70% after being just about 80% for most of the summer

I would have thought SFO might still have hope in that it services *A partners, even if UA keeps reduced schedule. My LAX-LHR December flight has been re-routed LAX-ORD-LHR (maintaining PP upgrade) but I’m going to try later today for SFO- LHR.

PL won’t be a driver - just trying to get to LHR w/ only one connection from HNL and w/o 2 red eyes.
