UA publishes a schedule for 330 days in advance (called Beginning of Schedule) and in the past would make tweaks quarterly and things would be fairly settles 3-4 months out. Updates would occur Friday evening / Saturday morning (Chicago time). Routine additions could occur anytime.

Present updates are every Friday and sometimes mid-week usually focused on the next month and farther out.

However, during the COVID era, UA has gone to a more dynamic and shorter-term setting of schedule (as has the other carriers). Presently UA, while UA is still publishing a schedule for 330 days in advance it reflects pre-COVID operational levels and is considered just a placeholder schedule. Then 3-5 weeks prior to a month, UA makes a major update of that month's schedule.

Examples (Major updates)
The October 2020 schedule was updated 4-5 September 2020
The November 2020 schedule was updated 2-3 October 2020
The December 2020 schedule was updated 30-31 October 2020
Holidays can move the major date a week earlier or later.
Weekly updates are still generally done over night Friday-Saturday (Chicago)

UA does not publish a summary of most schedule changes but a variety of sources below do and summaries / links of those sources can be found in this thread & wiki.

Always crosscheck with UA's Travel Notices , Coronavirus (COVID-19) travel waivers and information, www.united.com/coronavirus as the situation is dynamic

ORD to RNO

Does anyone have comments on June round trip ORD/RNO. One non stop per day and terrible times. Thoughts on whether these are placeholder times likely to change, if additional flights times will be offered? TIA

They recently don't appear much in the practice of increasing frequencies anywhere, except when there are special events (superbowl, ces). Looks like ORD/RNO is only being served around spring break time. At this point the only plausible change would be cutting the nonstop altogether, although I don't think it's so likely.

That fact that Japan's semi-lockdown extended to March 6 does not help.
UA is moving very slowly with my flight, ORD-HND. It does not show up on flight search, but it remains on my reservation. It has been this way for a week. I thought that UA might pull the plug during the schedule update last weekend. But it did not happen.

Edit: Feb. 24, ORD-HND is back on. There are PZ spaces and J9.

I know UA has already made a bunch of changes for May/June, but anyone know how firm the early April schedules are now? Will there likely be another set of (more minor?) changes, are are these pretty firm by now?

Specifically, I just booked one of the twosday deals on SFO-LHR for the first week of April, which as of now, is showing two departures each direction (leaving SFO at ~1pm and ~4pm, and LHR at ~10:30am and ~12:30pm). Looks like at the moment, just the later set of flights are running. Trying to figure out if I should brace myself to be changed at some point. I did look a couple of weeks ago at SFO-BRU/AMS, and I forget which one (probably AMS) showed as having a nonstop, but I didn't see it when I looked yesterday, so I know they seemed to have made some changes recently.

One has to assume there is still a chance of April changes. The chances decrease daily but never goes to zero. The fact the recent changes were for May most suggests further major April changes are unlikely but the not zero. Any responses here would be only guesses.

Both are on the schedule for 3 April and have inventory
Are you looking at a different date?

Just got a 7 minute schedule change for LAS-SFO April 20. I've got P&W 777-200 flights in March/April but not certain if those are firm or will swap out - haven't seen a formal announcement yet those are really a go.

thanks. Our outbound is April 1 and the return is the 7th. Looks like the first day of 2 x is March 26, so only a week earlier. hoping this sticks. I realize anything on here is just a guess…so was just trying to get an opinion. I realize anything can happen, especially these days.

Does that mean that some other unfortunate flyers have been saddled with an ERJ?
