combine multiple tickets for re-ticketing?
Can a new ticket be issued using credits from multiple existing tickets?
My particular case is one ticket within the 24-hour free-change window, but ideally I want to combine it with funds from an older cancelled ticket that still has credits left. but the more general question holds...can you use multiple existing tickets as credits/funds for a new purchase? |
I think so but I've never tried it.
Rather than wait for what could be bad info via FlyerTalk, just cancel the one ticket via the 24-hour cancellation window so you're guaranteed to get those funds back. Then attempt to change the existing ticket to whatever you want and they will add-collect the difference. You seem to be making this more complicated than it really needs to be. K.I.S.S. -RM |

However, this is an unusual set of steps, and some agents may refuse. In general, when you re-use an existing ticket, it’s all done within a single reservation (PNR). In order to do what you’re describing, they’d have to close out that PNR as though they were refunding it. I’m not 100% certain whether that is within policy. Now, if you have multiple ETCs — that is, you’ve already reissued tickets, and now you want to use the residual value left over after paying the new fare, then you can combine multiple ETCs together and they will then count as one of the two forms of payment. |
