Delta 2 months pay

Delta employees are getting 2 months extra pay. That should put a few smiles on their faces. Why do I think this is one area where UA won’t copy Delta? Instead more bonuses for the brass, I’d guess.

United, just as Delta does - pays annual profit sharing bonuses to its employees.

The Delta bonus, 16.6% of annual salary - will be nice, but no doubt many on FT get annual bonuses 20%+

Delta is not unionized. But UA is. So following the CBA is far more important.

Management consultants, who probably make up a good percentage of Flyertalkers, can often get more that kind of bonus (though it may be seen as less of a true bonus than part of an expected comp structure)

Following the CBA is only for represented groups. UA could give whatever it wants to the other groups but from what I'm told they've reduced the profit sharing over the past few years even as profits rose. There isn't a thing the non represented groups can do about it . Allegedly the profit sharing this year will be bumped up but it won't be anywhere close to what Delta is paying out. Profit sharing should be an equal percentage across all groups (as it is at Delta) but that isn't the way it works at UA.

Good for Delta. Shows again the the no-union situation at DL pays offs.

or rather the threat of unionization means that delta has to go above and beyond to keep them at bay.

Clark's boss added 20% to his prior year after the kidnap. Might have upped it from 5% of his salary to 6%.

In my final years before retirement my bonus was normally in the range 40-50% of my base plus deferred stock of another 25%. Quite sane.

This is actually an incorrect concept for union/CBA, that one needs to join to be bound by CBA.

A CBA applies to every position covered by CBA. So union members or not, the union will bargain for you. But if you don't join, then the union's representation on behalf of you will be limited, such as grievance.

A non-member is treated the same as a member in many employment aspects, including but not limited to, compensation and bonuses.

Other than the ridiculously strong pilot union driving profit sharing. Seriously good union able to get industry leading pay, DC and profit sharing at the expense of outsourcing a lot of wide body flying.
benjymessner and EWR764 like this.
