NRT Terminal 2 to 1 transfer -- landside or airside?
 
I'm checking into my JAL flight at Terminal 2 NRT, but I want to use a United Club pass at the club in Terminal 1. Is it better to transfer landside to terminal 1 (and then transfer back to terminal 2 landside) before my flight? Or can I go through security and immigration in terminal 2 and then transfer over to terminal 1 airside to use the club?

I remember reading about shuttle buses connecting T1 and T2 airside. But I don't know if that's still running.
*EDIT* Can you even use UC? They now require people traveling on *A to get access.
