EconomyPlus (E+) at T-24 on international segment

For international connection (DOM-INTL) with United being international and domestic being partner airline, the app doesn’t allow to checkin, neither allows selecting premium seat (it’s T-24 for united flight as well).
(Got Silver status so have to wait till T-24 for complimentary E+)

So wondering if phone customer service can change the seat (don’t want to wait till I get to airport and lose good E+ seat options)?

(Could checkin to domestic flight on partner airline site however that doesn’t allow to change united seat and potentially it may not recognize the status to determine E+ is now available.)

Yes

And you can do it online before checking-in if done after T-24

i think you mean before T-24? IME, at T-24 or closer to flight, when trying to select a seat from a reservation on the app using my trips, instead of a seat map, it brings up a pop-up that says it’s under T-24 and refers you to check in to select a seat - and you can’t do that with UA when your first flight is with a partner. Only way to do this online is to use the check in option after you are marked as boarded on the last partner flight and only have UA segments left.

Thanks. Luckily customer service was able to change it which was better option than losing seats (now a different matter that someone additional from E+ getting upgraded to first, might free up better E+ ones, so might have to use the option you suggested).

Wondering if one has boarded last partner flight and only UA is left (all on same ticket), shouldnt one be already checked in for united as well. Or it’s only with certain partner airlines who can checkin on united and give BPs for united as well.

yes, partner should check you in all the way through. But UA will not allow you to modify that at all when there is still a partner flight left to be flown, much like you can not initially check in with UA when you have a partner segment first. Once that partner segment is boarded, that coupon will be marked as ‘used’ and you’ll be able to access UA checkin on the app like normal, so can change your seats, use SDC (if you don’t have bags checked, etc.). So if better seats become available, for example, you can make that change on your own.
