I do see that, however my understanding was UA wanted to complete the 8 fleet before starting the 9 fleet, since the 8s have a much smaller J cabin making it difficult to sell all 36 J seats on a non-remaned one.

3Q'21 is a long time to mod 5 planes, unless they plan on doing them one at a time.

OTOH, this problem could resolve itself if UA choses to dedicate the old versions to Freight only flights.

I don't believe that the 9s are in for retro. The last couple to have been there came out unmodified.

My upcoming LHR IAD flight went from the new config 788 to the old config... hard to believe UA would put that on such a premium route

Assume this former China Southern (B-2296) unit has seats and in EvoBlu and should enter revenue service soon..

According to the Fleet Site, a few of the GE 772s have been re-designated 77F Ballast Freighters. What exactly are these? Did they remove seats to make room for pallets or something?

ISTR reading someplace that some dedicated 777 "freighters" would have galley carts with heavy weight permanently installed in the (rear?) galley for weight/balance concerns. Sounds like that might be them?

From another source.
"Nine GE 77Es will be put back into service with a new equipment code 77F, these 9 frames will be solely dedicated to cargo only routes. The reason for the equipment code change is because tech ops will load and secure 6,000 pounds of ballast in the aft galley equipment of these frames. The ballast is weighed and locked inside the galley equipment and will not be removed from the aircraft until the aircraft is returned to passenger service. Ballast is needed because the GE 77Es are nose heavy and those Polaris seats only exacerbates the problem. Without the 6,000 pounds of ballast our load planners are forced to leave 2 pallet positions open in the forward cargo hold if not more just to balance the aircraft."

I’d like to submit a request to consider for 2021. Would it be possible to split this thread into two... one for mainline, and one for the regional jets?
thanks for considering...

763 Retrofit -- travel next year

I'm booked on the IAH to SCL next October. Currently scheduled to be on older 763, with 2-1-2 in Polaris. Any ideas as to the chances of the bird being swapped out for a 763 with new Polaris seating?
