There were two flights left on my bucket list: LAX/SFO-ZRH, which was booked for April, then cancelled by SR; and LAX-LHR on NZ. It's been a tough year.

United has terminated its contract with ExpressJet. All EV aircraft will be returned to UA over the next several months. CommutAir will retain all of United’s E145 flying and will slowly grow to incorporate some of these frames over the next year.

Re: LHR slot, I am told the long-term plan is to have 7x EWR-LHR, with hourly departures from 6pm to 11pm eastbound (plus the morning flight), corresponding with a LHR-EWR in the 2pm hour, perhaps along with a retimed LHR-LAX. That would adequately round out the schedule and be competitive for time-of-day departures with BA/AA and VS/DL to JFK.
As of now, in paperwork submitted for the slot trade, UA is planning the 3:20pm departure slot for LHR-EWR under flight numbers UA988/989, with 787-10 service launching October 25 at the start of the IATA Winter season. Aircraft assignment is subject to change, of course, but ACL (the entity which coordinates slot transactions at LHR) tracks changes in seats per departure, and "prefers" to see gauge stay fairly consistent, if not increase. However, I wouldn't expect to see this flight hit the schedules until the end of the "temporary" slot waivers. UA already uses lower-cost 767s for most of its LHR flights and can always reintroduce 757s to EWR/IAD if it really needs to slot-squat in a deeply reduced demand environment.
Even though this is a pre-COVID transaction, LHR slots are strategic assets, so it's not surprising to see UA planning for a post-pandemic world in which Heathrow access remains a valuable commodity, especially now that a third LHR runway is all but dead until the next economic boom cycle.

I flew on N222UA yesterday, the only 772ER in a domestic configuration. It adds 4AB/KL, relocates lavatories at 2L/R, and most importantly adds PTVs in Y. It also eliminates the dreaded armrest-top call button and the spring-loaded center armrests in Y. Sadly I doubt any more aircraft will receive this configuration, because it’s an improvement over the existing domestic 777s. Here are a few more shots from Y.
