Thursday travel probably explains the lack of P at this point. On LAX-EWR and vice versa they usually eventually release P on a few peak day flights (Thursday, Sunday, Monday), but not until closer in (60-120 days as others have postulated).

Hi all!

So thanks to your advice, I set up a google alert and just received this alert that the price has almost halved.

Is £540 just about the lowest it will go or should I roll the dice and hold out further?

It is currently the lowest priced published fare on this route, so it will not go any lower unless they publish new fares (which are unlikely to be much lower). This is the $709 USD P fare that was mentioned a couple weeks ago. The fare has not changed, they just opened inventory in the P fare bucket for the flight you are interested in. There are $609 USD P fares, but these are only good for Saturday flights and are not valid for travel on any other days of the week.

Hey,

Thanks for this!

So in your opinion, If I were to book this, I wouldn't be crazy this far out?

Holding out for a lower fare would make no sense at all.

Ah bummer.

Just checked and its for 1 ticket only. I need two unfortunately so that is that!

Might try Premium Economy.

Any good from your experience?

Agree - odds of the fare table ever lowering is around 1%.

Yikes, patience! Your flight is still nine months away. All you need is a single extra seat in P.

dkc192 Jan 5, 2020 12:24 pm

If you wanted to not lose out on this single P seat, you could buy it now, along with one PE seat (would require two different PNRs). If a second P seat opens up, you can call to upfare with no change fee, just the fare difference (essentially splitting that second P fare into two transactions). For more info see here:

On this, I would simply watch fare bucket changes on Saturdays. That said, you are already showing a 78J on this route - if for some reason it gets downgauged, the availability will certain tighten.
