Better to tell them it's moot. The fact that the reason can't speak is irrelevant.

The official term is "trip in vain".

Update: used the recheck counter at T5 ORD. They dropped the last segment because of the delay with no issue. They gave me instructions for refund. I will try for ORC. I purchased a different ticket to DTW and am currently enjoying the Polaris lounge after making someone on the ORDLAX upgrade list happy.

Thanks for your help

Yeah you can do pretty much whatever in IRROPS. Either no show or tell UA to cancel the last segment due to the delays.

I wouldn’t tell them to cancel anything until you get to where you want To be.

Just a note -- refund and ORC are mutually exclusive, one or the other. Also, ORC requires the agents marked the change as INVOL.

I signed up for a Twitter account purely for the ability to be able to send DM's to UA as they seem to be able to fix almost anything quickly and painlessly.
