United Polaris new seat vs Delta One Suite A350

I have a choice to make for an upcoming flight to Tokyo....

I can take Delta One Suite on the A350 from Detroit (connecting in from east coast) OR take a United 777 in Polaris Business in a bulkhead window nonstop.

I’ve been in UA many times and know what to expect. Just wondering if the A350 is worth it? Have a window seat on the A350 (odd numbered row, closer to the window).

appreciate any guidance....

Not sure if you're starting from CHI or NYC (/ other east coast). If ORD, the new seats aren't guaranteed for a while, I don't believe.

I guess most people will say take the nonstop unless you have other considerations you want to include.

Do you have five extra hours and a hankering for credit with Delta?

Not overly worried about the flight credit or miles on this trip ....

the seat map shows a new seat 777 and they are selling premium plus which usually means they are doing their best to put the new configuration in that market.

just never tried Delta One international and never been on a A350!

Why not give it a shot? The D1 suite is more spacious than the Polaris seat. 350 is a beautiful aircraft.

Sounds like you want to take the A350.

Sounds like you should take the A350.

Both seats are Great. I found that the lav door on the Delta flight obstructs the passageway

Close the door when you use it

A350 is a fine aircraft to fly in terms of passenger experience subject to airlines specific configurations.

I am a huge 777 fan, but having flown A359 on 1/2 dozen airlines, now I understand why a number of airlines are choosing A350 to replace their 772/77W fleet.

If you have a desire to check out a new configuration, do so... but otherwise the nonstop is going to be much more convenient.

If you like to sample new experiences go for it. The 350 D1 Suites are terrific. The fact you asked this question provides your answer.

You mean the same outward swinging lav door on the accessible lavatory in the middle of the 77W Polaris cabin?

I had many qualms with the D1 suite. I'd take the nonstop in Polaris.

FWIW, the DTW SkyClubs aren't in the same league as the ORD Polaris lounge. They're barely in the same sport. Don't know if that matters.

They're still frozen in the 1990s.

I just didn't find them comfortable and the amenities were lacking compared to Polaris. The doors are nice, but somewhat gimmicky. Full review with pictures on my blog here:
