It's pretty darned easy for UA to just do the right thing here WRT lifetime members. Why it seems that they are apparently nt is beyond me. This really shouldn't require a lawsuit. It's really not a big thing. It's not even hard to understand. It doesn't even affect that many people. <sigh>

I never received any formal notification from UA about this. I found out from this thread. I was talking to a UC agent a few days ago, and she mentioned that UC members had received an email from UA.

Question for other Lifetime members: Did you receive an email notification? I may be spitting in the wind, but I am wondering if UA did not notify lifetime members because the jury is still out on us?

Nope. I think there will be quite a fuss when (if?) this policy goes into effect. Possibly even media attention.

UA once again copying the dumpster fire part of DL with killing award charts, but not copying their positive as they did for their lifetime club members

If there is no exception for lifetime members, I will never fly United again.

So they will save a few dollars in lounge costs, and lose out on all my business and personal travel - potentially into the tens of thousands.

I'm sitting the United club right now waiting for my flight. I think I'm going to tell my travel department not only do I not want my travel to be on United if this change goes through for lifetime members, but I don't think anyone in my company should travel United if this is implemented for lifetime members.

And I am free to change my company's travel policy to exclude United.

I've lost count how many times people/companies quit UA on FT ranging from BULK tickets, no more JFK, loss of MileagePlus lifetime benefits, Dynamic awards, Silverwings, Dao incident, etc...The grass is not necessarily greener on the other side but at the rate UA has been printing money, they won't miss anyone over this issue.

Well I have a choice where money goes. It's a matter of standing up to what I perceive as an injustice to lifetime members.

Until they reverse that decision, here's my response. Two can play the backstabbing game. I fly twice a week on other airlines. I will make an extra effort to visit a United Club on as many of these trips as possible. In the past I visited a United Club 4 to 5 times a year. I'm sure I can pack my lifetime's worth of visits into the rest of 2019. On my lifetime membership, this decision will COST them money.

Who wants to join my United Club run?

I have one or two drinks when I am there. And that's the thing - granting an exception to lifetime members will not cost united very much at all, as for every heavy drinker there are many many more moderate ones and tea-totalers. Seems like a no-brainer decision versus losing a lot of business from disgruntled members.

Short-term they probably figure they're better off. In the long term they are not. But these brainiacs don't think long-term.

I would estimate that if UA lost every single paid lifetime club member - it simply wouldn't change the financials to a point where anyone would notice.
