EWR-SFO UA 583 on 11/29 completely sold out?

Is this a glitch or is the flight completely sold out except for YBM?

It may. But I am not inclined to say it is, as it is a Thanksgiving Friday.

I think this is what you call revenue management. UA figures it's a high demand flight, and is only offering expensive seats.

The seatmap, esp in J, is still relatively open, so its possible they'll make more cheap seats available. Or possible they can get the premium for every seat, and they won't.

I have a EWR-LAX flight later in Dec that was on the 787-10 but now it seems every single Ps flight that day has been switched to the 752. Sigh :-(

UA583 is showing J9 C9 D9 Z7 P0 O0 A0 R0 Y9 B9 M9 E8 U0 H0 Q0 V0 W0 S0 T0 L0 K0 G0 N9 for me right now.

And I can get UA583 inventory down to W when married with INTL segments, e.g. DUBEWR or AMSEWR. INTL fares typically (but not always) allow connecting to p.s.

So there's definitely inventory available. They just didn't want to sell it to you for a low price. Route, POS, etc. can all be factors.

UA has also reduced frequency on that holiday Friday to 11 flights from the normal 14.

Happens all the time. Check 1/12 EWR/BOS-SFO for example. Sold out in J for months ... every single flight. There are high demand times where UA just sells out ... or thinks they will.

This particular date is the JP Morgan healthcare conference. I imagine it was only J availability before it sold out, just like were seeing for a high demand Y period for thanksgiving.

Thanks for the explanations. Didn't realize Thanksgiving Friday would be a big day for travel

Probably a lot of people who were visiting their in-laws who want to get home without killing their entire long weekend? Im flying back the day after Thanksgiving...but only because I leave for my cruise to Antarctica 5 days later.
