SQ to CA to non-connecting UA on a Mileageplus ticket
Hi all
I saw space available in business class so I grabbed the flights below before it disappeared, but still deciding whether or not to proceed with the entire trip (I'm a 1k, so can cancel if needed). If I proceed with the trip, I'd be buying a non-connecting NRT-LAX-YYC V class ticket leaving at 5:30pm. Obviously if everything goes right, there is plenty of time at each connecting point. However, how worried should I be if things go wrong? Depending on where the misconnect happens, somebody has a responsibility to get me to Tokyo, but probably in time for me to miss my flight to LAX. Can I expect some leniency and re-accommodation as a 1K in such a situation, or would I be majorly out of pocket trying to get back to North America?

This is right at the edge of my comfort zone. The 2h50 in PEK is probably okay, as is the 3h50 split-ticket in NRT, but both are close enough to make me a little concerned. If NRT-LAX is on UA metal, I would generally expect some leniency as a 1K, but of course there are no guarantees. I doubt SQ will check through to YYC, but not an SQ expert.
