1-day sale - Hawaii award flights 25,000 miles

Via email today. "Paradise is waiting".

For one day only. Award flights to Hawaii start at 25,000 miles.

Travel Sept 9 to Dec 15
Economy only.

Looks like a chart with different rates for Chase cardholders and not. Wonder if this is part of their plan to try and get people to carry Chase cards again....
Wasn't there a similar promotion not too long ago?

For non-card holders, even 1Ks, they start at 32,000.
Quite a slap in the face to me as I already have $20K in PQD this year.

Are one day award sales becoming more common?

I see some itineraries at 22,500 (the same for card holders) but with far less desirable routings. I'm not sure it's a sale price. Is UA saying there's some 25K RTs?

This sale, albeit 1 day, tells me the Southwest entry to Hawaii is starting to make a dent in the market - I'm starting to see some $400ish RT HNL-LAS which I haven't seen in a very long time.....

Actually I was wrong - $355 RT HNL-LAS for many dates in October

That had been running $600-$800 for years.....

Yes - 25k r/t if Plat with the card.

I continue to dream of a day when they might discount a premium cabin...

Entry of Southwest to Hawaii isn't adding to the aggregate front cabin seat count to Hawaii. It does add a lot of economy seats to the market. I dream of discount F also, but I usually only see it in week before flight nowadays.

I mean, they could tell you that IN was 40K RT with a 21-day advance purchase. I'm not sure what good it would do, given the paucity of I/IN seats.
findark likes this.

I am not surprised that WN made a dent by its $99 fare. The question is how far can this last.

Also, it is not a bad idea for HNL to have both BE and discounted award. At the minimum, it is better than giving out to the non-rev.

To be clear we are talking round trip. Smoking deals. Thank you WN! I love you even though I avoid you!!

Cant wait for SMF-HNL fares to plummet once they start up in Jan.
