ANC-EWR/EWR-ANC lie-flats?

Does anyone know if the first class cabin has lie-flat seats on this flight?

HNLbasedFlyer Aug 18, 2019 12:29 am

It does.

Is this flight CPU eligible?

Yes but good luck -- suspect there will be a lot of supported waitlisted instruments.

Hmmmmmmm

Or, more particularly, a lot of paid F. The flight time is well within policy for a premium cabin for many employers and others will simply pay the difference out of pocket.

Why do you think this route gets lie-flats?

Performance. At almost 3000nm, it's too far for a 737 with an economical load, and there are plenty of 757-200 to go around at EWR. The high-end tourist market probably drives more paid premium traffic than most domestic flights but it's not a strategically-important route to have lieflat seats. It is nice, though...

Yes it is very much a summer leisure route, ending in September.

I would have loved this when I was living in Anchorage. It's a difficult place to live if you like to travel.

When will this route come back? In spring?

It is crazy how little options there are to travel internationally directly from Alaska. Even this flight to EWR seems like a backtrack. I go to the 49th state to FAI/SCC once or twice a year, and at times tied to a visit to other parts of the world. It is always a trip back to ORD/DEN/SFO. You are almost halfway to NRT from DEN in ANC and halfway from EWR.

I do get a good laugh seeing a Condor 767 take off from FAI - that airport is a bump in the road most days.

Drifting OT, but it is absolutely brutal in the winter. You take a 3 hr red-eye to SEA, and connect onwards from there.

On one hand, it'd be a pain in the butt to fly out of ANC due to this.

On the other hand, you would certainly rack up the PQMs :D

You most certainly do, said as a guy having consistently fly to/from ANC the past 18 months more weeks than not. ^. On the downside, the redeye back to DEN is a bit of a bear. :td:

I would love to see a 752 with lie flats on the DEN/ANC route

LASUA1K Aug 18, 2019 11:18 pm

I wish ORD got lie flats. 737 for that long is brutal. I wouldn’t be surprised if UA drops ANC from ORD to once a day in the summer and throws a 777 Domestic bird on the route.
