DFW<-->LAX Nonstops-GONE?

Apologize in advance if someone already discussed this but....trying to find non-stop flights in Aug through Sept and there is no nonstops available, either route through IAH/DEN/ORD/SFO. I fly this route every month. Very surprised if they axe it. It would be quite inconvenient.

DFW-LAX has been gone for months - maybe approaching a year?

UA isn't interested in competing too hard out of LAX, especially when it comes to LAX-DL/AA hub.

And more particularly, DFW, AA's fortress worldwide hub.

AA has close to hourly service. Grab one of those and you will be fine.

Yes, gone for maybe 4 months now. Tragic for those of us in DFW who are too stubborn for our own good...

More PQM?

zambonisk Jul 28, 2019 4:03 pm

I noticed the same thing when planning a quick weekend trip to DFW with my son. Living in PHX and refusing to fly AA, I picked up a cheap round trip F fare on DL, looking forward to flying on the A220. I would have flown UA but try to avoid Houston in late Aug as much as possible. I didn't mind the RJ service in F on the LAX-DFW routing, easy way to earn more PQMs going to DFW living in PHX.

You could grab even more PQM by routing via SFO, routing rules permitting. :cool:

I have read on FT that this was expressly the point of this forum...out of the way routings to obtain status. :D

Same thing here...lived in Dallas for 10 years now, flew AA only twice. I refused to fly them. Even with the LAX flight cuts, I will still stick with UA. As a 1K, I have been treated well. Don't see a reason to bail on them.

Flip a coin when you book either DFW-SFO-LAX or DFW-IAH-LAX. 😀

I looked but the F fare blew up every time I tried to route via SFO. Oh well, we are looking forward to flying on the A220

Nah it was cancelled back in April/May. It's really inconvenient for me as I'm looking for more PQD than PQM. Plus this complicates flying in my elderly parents to visit us... Don't forget about DFW-DEN-LAX and vice versa...

LAX-DFW can be routed via SFO. PHX-DFW cannot.

I can understand not wanting to fly AA, but I'm not sure I understand why PHX-LAX-DFW would have been preferable to PHX-IAH-DFW. The latter is shorter, and if you wind up with a flight disruption at IAH, not only do you have plenty of alternate flights, it's drivable. (Even PHX-DEN-DFW is shorter than PHX-LAX-DFW: LAX is way out of the way).
