I was scheduled in J on UA418 today which is also going back to SFO with the old 24F configuration

I called and they switched me to a flight leaving earlier due to the swap.

I have now done two PS flights since it moved to EWR. The OPs have been embarrasingly bad. Never again.

First was this Monday EWR-SFO. 3h58m delay due to late incoming aircraft due to maintenance. They had hours to react but couldn't manage to swap the aircraft out of a major hub?

Then the next was today SFO-EWR. Looking at a 5+ hour delay due to late incoming aircraft that put the FO illegal as we were about to take off.

Both days were perfectly clear, all other flights having no issues.

What should I ask for compenstation? I paid $400+ to get to SFO early Monday, instead Monday was a complete waste.

They are doing what they normally do. They try to give you nothing, and act like they are doing you a favor getting you to your destination at all.

Most of the recent comments here were problems with ps flights to SFO. Have folks had problems with LAX flights?

I checked the status of LAX flights yesterday just for "fun." One had been cancelled (8am EWR-LAX), one was 4 hours late and the others were pretty much on schedule. I don't know if that's a good record or not. It certainly wouldn't be considered good for those affected on the 2 flights mentioned. But it's 2 out of 24 flights, or 8%. Normal? Not?

Here's some crazy pricing. For the same price as a RT SFO-EWR in BF, you can go RT SFO-EWR-FRA in BF ($3000). With at least one, and possibly both TATL legs on the LH 748. Various dates in December. Not a bad mileage run if you're registered for the 10,000 per segment bonus.

This. Exactly what they told me. They did wave the "change" fee out of a courtesy being on a J fare.

How does she feel about being moved to a flight which ultimately ran 5 hours late?

I guess patient given she was willing to take a flight 4 hours later for a better seat on a 4.5 hour flight.

Something's fishy about these sudden 'mechanical' issues with the fleet on these runs though. 3 28J PS birds out for maintenance, some 16J birds, and now a 764 going mechanical for 5 hours.

Are the turns per bird significantly shorter now?

This will sound inflammatory but always in the back of my mind with UA history is "what is the union's motive". It's not always the case. But it sadly the case more than any other airline in this country, and has been for 30 years.

After I swapped to UA824 EWR-SFO from the horrid 24F bird, there was some talk of having to return to EWR right after takeoff.

2 overhead panels came crashing down pulling electrical wiring with it

Captain came out in flight and consulted with maintenance, and ended up deciding to continue on

I don't recall hearing as much about maintenance when p.s. was based out of JFK...seems like an uptick (or perhaps because ex-EWR is new and thus must be griped about? )

I wonder which crews fly the sCO ps flights. Are they international (NTA) crews, or domestic crews?

If they're domestic crews, perhaps they're less familiar with BusinessFirst. I'm sure that all of the crews are trained to provide BusinessFirst service, but the international crews do it all the time.

The 764 5 hour delay wasn't mechanical. It was due to poor ops at SFO. I don't know the specifics why, but the plane landed and was delayed while pulling in to the gate. I suppose it could've been a jet bridge issue.

Anyway that only caused a slight delay. It ballooned to 5 hours when the first officer timed out as we were queued to take off. They had to fly in a new crew from LAS.

It probably would have been faster to fly the 757 to LAS and pick up the new FO there. @:-)

Was on that flight also. Received an email upon landing offering $150 or 7500 miles to apologize for the swap.

Whoa As in the big ceiling panels around the CRTs on the 752? That's pretty bad.

I still don't understand why sCO and the PS sUA 757s didn't get their ceiling panels replaced during the mods - DL did on the ex-SONG 757s and it made total sense.
