LAX-HKG reshuffle and original routing credit
Hi, I'm fairly new to United, so forgive me if this is an obvious question.
I've got the PQD for Gold, but need PQM, so I decided (probably against better sense) it was time for a good old-fashioned mileage run. I booked LAX-SFO-HNL-GUM-HKG and back HKG-SFO-DEN-LAX over Thanksgiving week. It looks like United cut UA159 GUM-HKG starting in late October and I was routed LAX-SFO-HKG on the way there. Would I be able to request original routing credit (if I need it) after flying the route?
Thanks!
-PeterK

1. UA is the only airline serving this route.
2. UA has been working with local media in Hong Kong promoting Guam and Hawaii.
3. UA Vacation is still promoting Guam and Honolulu tour packages at least until the end of this year.
4. The load of this route is quite good.
Given the route is removed after 10/26, it is extremely likely that the route is removed due to daylight saving adjustment. If I were you, I would wait a few weeks and ask UA to put me back on the original route.
In term of ORC, you are not eligible.

Seems interesting that it goes unavailable just as 2nd SFO-HKG starts.

Why fly something 75% full at low fares when you can push travelers to higher fares on full planes?

A lower load factor and cheap prices are not a good sign for a route. There are better routes for UA resources (unless from a system point of view the segment enables other more profitable segments)
