Online Check In question about military orders

First time checking in online on UA and one of the questions asked is if I am travelling on official government / military orders, which I am. Is there a hidden benefit to answering yes? Just curious and as always, TIA for your answers.

A member of the military on personal travel gets a checked baggage allowance of 3 regular size bags (length + width + height <= 62 inches) at 70 pounds each. On orders, or relocating, you’d get 5 larger bags (L+W+H <= 115 inches) at 100 pounds each.
trooper and AirbusFan2B like this.

Is this international? I believe you don't need a passport in many cases when traveling internationally on military orders

You also get to pre-board, which is very helpful if you are carrying a large carry on with overhead space.

But, that is not dependent on how you answer the kiosk question.

The question is solely there so that the system can calculate the baggage allowance.

I will ask the GA about that one, I guess I just need to show my orders. I wonder if a bump to E+ is possible too ?

You won't need your orders for pre-board. When they call military, you just have to have your CAC out to show them.

CAC Is your military ID. CAC = Common Access Card.

The early boarding is for " Active (duty) members of the military ", would not seem to apply to civilians
