Hey FTers...just thought the seatmap for my flight tomorrow night to LAX (UA534) is unusual - it’s been a few years since I’ve seen one like this (except for perhaps an IRROPs situation). Much of the first class cabin is empty at about 35 hours from departure. I’d think at least the 1Ks and platinum upgrades would have cleared, unless there aren’t (m)any. Maybe I’ll be in an F cabin with an empty seat? We shall see!

UA534 HNL-LAX red-eye on the 17th is showing 16 of 28 sold
Perhaps loads are heavier going to HNL this early in the summer
Regular economy is packed but E+ is very open -- lots of BE passengers??

This! I was on a 787 a few months back, and Polaris was wide empty when I checked in at the airport, but was packed at boarding time with a huge list of standby non-revs who had changed their schedules to get on this flight. Everyone in Y got an entire row to themselves, and everyone in C got a non-rev neighbor to jump over!

High-density 77Gs used primarily for Hawaii flying, as well as several of the premium TCON flights. They show up every now and then on some domestic hub-hub turns as well. They'll be the last 8-across birds in the fleet until they retired, which I imagine will be sometime in the 2020s.

This primarily used for Hawaii-Mainland, some high density domestic or a few TATL .
This is a full lie-flat seat.

Empty F cabins do pop up from time to time out of Hawaii. I've had a few ex-Hawaii flights this year where no one sat next to me even with non-revs cleared. And I had 2 flights where there were less than 5 people total in F on a 737.
And then there's other times where I can't even buy a full F seat to/from Hawaii due to it being sold out on some days weeks in advance.
So usually they are full but every now and then there's a random super light load.

16 hours before flight, and it's booked 25/28 (with 7 free seats on the seat map, once again showing that's not a great indication of the number of unsold seats)
