Odd near rejection at MXP lounge (contract agent did not know what GS was)

What's really surprising about this story is the fact that the check in agent didn't escort OP and their guests to the lounge. I was under the impression that this service has been offered to GS (in addition to the car ride on the tarmac) passengers, especially those at foreign airports like MXP.

I was never expecting an escort to the lounge (although after walker over 100 miles in 14 days my feet would approve). I was actually told once that they cannot do the Mercedes if you have kids under 18 traveling with you for some reason (can't remember the reason but sounded plausible).
I really don't care that I was at first rejected because technically I don't think I should have been granted access by the normal rules. Why was puzzling was the "1k can bring in 8 guests" written on their access sheet but no reference to GS at all.
