How can explain to non-FF difference in 737's?
OMG, general public going crazy trying figure out the different versions. Seen 4 different group of people go to GA that told her this plane was grounded. But the plane is 738 not a 7M8.

Generally, all someone is looking for is confident reassurance.

If you're explaining to someone really unaware...."The ones with the wavy gold line are the bad ones. The ones with the straight gold line are the good ones." Might also need to distinguish that the big ones with a wavy gold line are OK to fly.

It's similar to a car recall. For example, Toyota recalls its newest generation Camry - 2018-2019 model years. The recall doesn't affect previous generation Camrys - 2017 and older.
Also, people can look at the engines - any 737 which doesn't have sawtooth trailing edges are not affected by the grounding.
