I hope this is true!
That is a manageable countdown if it is true.

Would much rather they close and fix it than have that abomination open.
Yeah, I found that walled off F section weird. It's no better than the rest of the club, other than having the feeling of having fewer people around you. I suppose it ensures that F passengers get a seat in the lounge.

But the walls take up space that make the whole place more cramped and would probably allow for an extra row of seats if removed.

Unlike a lot of other people, I was pretty happy with the C club. Sure it was a little old and worn. But it had a lot of seats, big bathrooms, felt big and open, had ample room for the food, etc. It would have been nice to have self-service soft drinks. I hope I'm not disappointed with the new one.

...
It actually has MUCH better food and drink options, compared to the United Club.

Oh, it didn't seem big enough for that. The food is in that section, or is it wait service?

Was in there twice last week with a colleague. No wait service, but decent buffet options. Wine, champagne and beer was GFL quality. Deserts were a little sparse but tasty. As far as seating, Sunday was rough as we hit the Europe/UK departure window. Found a table and a couple of chairs. On the Friday return, we got really lucky and hit it after Asia departures and before Europe/UK. It was wide open and only had 5-6 people there for a couple of hours. The staff was attentive and apologized multiple times for the condition of the club. All in all, they are making the best of a bad situation.

Completely agree, the food and drink offering is actually better than before the last round of changes. Now we have two choices of champagne, who would ever have thought we would see that from UA? I think they have done a great job under the circumstances.

just received UA email update:

Chicago: The United Club location near Gate B6 will reopen in mid-October. The club near Gate C16 is open but is under construction along with the adjacent Global First Lounge, which is closed. The first United PolarisSM Lounge will open on December 1, 2016 near Gate C16.

Fort Lauderdale: The United Club at Fort Lauderdale remains closed for renovation. In the meantime, we invite you to visit our temporary location in Terminal 1, between Gates C1 and C3.

Houston Intercontinental: The United Club located in the C North concourse is closed for renovations, and the club in Terminal B will remain open while we work to bring you an enhanced experience beginning in November.

Los Angeles: We plan to open our new United Club in early December, which will replace our two existing clubs in Terminal 7. This club will feature one of our largest spaces as well as an outdoor terrace.

New York/Newark: The United Club location in Terminal A is closed for renovations. Please visit the club near Gate C74 or C120 in the meantime. The club near Gate C74 will be under construction beginning in early October, but will remain open during the renovations. We expect all club and lounge renovations at New York/Newark to be completed by the Fall of 2017.

San Francisco: The United Club on the International Concourse will begin renovations in late November as it will be transitioning into a United Polaris Lounge. The club will remain open during this time. We will begin building a new United Club on the International Concourse beginning in November.

About the food order kiosk in B18, is the food meant to be eaten in the club or can it be taken to go? I want to swing by to order a personal Giordano's pizza during a connection there but as I'm traveling with a party I'm sure they're going to ask for some, but there's too many of us so I can't take them inside. (Seems like it would be a little crazy to do so anyways).

I am flying out of ORD Turkish airlines business class. I also have the united club passes from the chase cc. What is my best lounge choice? Will be there on 11/20. Thanks

Turkish operates out of Terminal 5, which is the international terminal. There is no United Club in Terminal 5.

You should have access to either the Swiss or SAS business class lounges in Terminal 5. Neither are very spectacular, but comfortable enough to wait for your flight.

When I walked from T1 to T2 this morning, I noticed the 2nd floor windows and the new furniture inside.

I figured they were close...

Article in today's Chicago Tribune:

On Wednesday, a brighter, sleeker club roughly double the size of its predecessor will reopen, part of a more than $200 million investment Chicago-based United is making in its airport lounges.

The club can seat 380 and passengers can choose between individual armchairs or communal high-top tables, all with extra outlets. Windows look out onto the airport, giving the lounge less of a cavelike feel. A full kitchen lets United swap the old cheese plates and trail mix for prepared dishes like fresh hummus and Mediterranean salads.
