I'm the first one to not defend UA, but I think they're doing the best they can with what they have. We all know the clubs at ORD badly needed a refresh. It's going to be painful for a few more months, but I truly think that when it's over we'll be a lot more happy.
As for the C17 club sizing, I do believe the PC is going to be taking over some of the space of the UC. Hopefully getting rid of the conference rooms in the process. Yes they've done a bunch of short-sighted things in the past, but I imagine they've thought this out pretty well.

I bet they were used more when you didn't need a boarding pass to get in!

My impression is that at one time (especially pre-9/11 when anyone could get airside) they may have gotten use, but post-9/11 and especially now that UA requires a same-day boarding pass to even get into the club I suspect any use and ancillary revenue is nowhere near commiserate to the amount of space they're taking up.

I agree. It's been a long time since I've seen a conference room used for its intended purpose. I think the space can be better used in a lot of locations.
IMO, a conference room or two at one lounge per hub should be adequate. Clubs are so busy these days that the space should be devoted to additional seating, service areas, etc.

AA actually had a system where they'd issue you a fake boarding pass for a destination they didn't service - at ORD it was Boise, IIRC - this got you past security.

Am I correct in thinking that one-time passes can be used in the F club?
Also, when it says same-day boarding pass, it isn't restricted to UA or *A, right? It says any airline.
My wife is flying AA in a few weeks with a 4 hour layover in ORD (work trip so couldn't book UA like we normally do). I was hoping to give her the one-time pass that I have so she could use the club during the layover (I think T3 and T2 are connected airside, right?)

UA requires a same day boarding pass but (at least for members) it can be on any airline -- in several clubs I've seen the sign announcing the change with "any airline" highlighted and/or underlined.
All UA and AA domestic gates are connected airside at ORD [everything except INTL airlines in T5, IIRC] so it should not be a problem (except for a decent walk) to get from AA gates to the F club and vice versa.

On a positive note, I did like the new food offerings. You could actually get a decent light dinner from the offerings. Too bad I didn't have time to enjoy it: once I finally got in, I only had about 15 minutes before I had to leave for my connecting flight.

Not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread, but yesterday a few of the B18 agents were announcing that the renovated B6 club would open on October 15. I heard it numerous times as they were escorting guests around trying to find people a seat. "Everything will get better on October 15 when our big new club opens"
I hope this is true!

When I was flying out of ORD with a bit of extra time a few weeks ago, my gate happened to be down around the B1 area. I stopped outside the shuttered B6 Club and took a look at the posted work permits there. The latest date I could find on any of the permits was either 10/28 or 10/31.
The sooner the B6 Club reopens, the better.
But then I've also heard from a bartender in the C Club that they're going to have to completely close the C Club for a couple months to complete renovations there.
I hope it's all done and fixed by 12/1 when the Polaris lounge opens in the C17 Club.

I asked if they were accepting the pass, and the agent greeted me warmly and accepted the pass with my boarding pass.

United club in O'Hare concourse C
Wow stopped by today and i see why they say no one time passes. Everyone was crammed to shoulder, barely any chairs to sit, there's a weird secondary lounge within a lounge (for first I guess) which looks cheap and chintzy behind a temporary wall. Would much rather they close and fix it than have that abomination open.

True, it is not a good lounge right now. It will be interesting to see how much space will become the permanent United Club once they finish the Polaris Lounge.
Yes, the lounge-within-a-lounge is for International First.
The only decent United Club at ORD right now is in the E concourse. The big lounge near gate B7 is still under construction, and the lounge by B16 is usually very crowded.

Wow is right. It's been about five weeks since I was in this club, and it doesn't look anything like the last time. One of the bartenders said she comes to work not assuming she will know where the bar is going to be that day.
