During Check-In the system uses the equipment code that is in the originally published schedule. The seat map is based on the assigned aircraft. So this was scheduled as a 787-8 and a 787-10 was substituted.

It's been that way for years.

Yes, typing this from the Amex lounge at SFO, it was the 781.
