Anywhere in the US for 5K?

I see that you can fly ITM-NRT in Japan one-way for 5K. But can you fly anywhere in the US for 5K? STS-SFO as an example is 10K, an 80 minute drive by car, and ORD-PHL, a 12 hour drive, can also be done for 10K.

No, at least not yet with the current award pricing. I think the minimum is 10K and that is on routes 700 miles or less.

I see now that you can do Kona to Honolulu for 7K. :)

Intra-Hawaii flights used to be 5k. That was like 5-6 years ago when I used my UA miles to book one.

To be clear, miles needed for award travel is not directly based on distance - the only time distance comes into play is in certain intra-region cases where short flights are discounted (i.e. the 700 mile threshold mentioned above).

The award chart is on the United website and pricing is based on region.
