new uniforms announced for UA
Hoo boy did they add some "pop." https://hub.united.com/united-unifor...626169184.html
I usually think the hubbub over airline uniforms is overwrought, but man are the FA uniforms ugly. |
new uniforms announced for UA
United Airlines employees will get their first look Wednesday at new uniforms that will soon roll out to all 70,000 of the carrier’s frontline workers. The new line comes with a distinct look that includes colors like “Pacific Blue,” “Premium Purple,” and “Atlantic Amethyst”
Some of them are a bit, er, interesting. https://www.usatoday.com/story/trave...ok/2596582002/ |
The purple tends to look like Deltas passport plum. However, I do like how each different role has a unique standout color.

Maybe its just me, but IMHO, the FA uniforms look really ugly. I dont know if its the colors or the diagonal. Actually, if I just saw those photos by themself, I don't think I'd have any idea those people were FAs or airline employees (or employees at any company). To me, they look extremely casual, not business casual and definitely not professional. I think the customer service uniforms look better than the FA ones.

As long as the keep the gold ties for GS staff, I'm good.

Isn't the whole point of a uniform to look just bad enough that no one thinks you're wearing it by choice and you must be on the job?
I feel like UA has definitely hit the mark here. |
Wow ... these designs were a surprise for all. I’m inflight now and talked with the FAs. This is not popular with any of them, though the female FA dress is slightly more appealing. To quote a male FA, “this new male FA uniform looks like a bellhop at the no-tell motel”. I like the introduction of purple as an accent color. Delta nailed their redesign. I sure hope there is time to make adjustments, especially given how much upheaval the front line employees have already had in the last year. As for the male FA uniform, lose the pocket stripes, narrow the stripes on the sleeves, lose the two-tone collar and there’s something there ... |
the heavy coats and blazers look ok. The colors...jeez, is this a warmed over member's only redux?
|
i heard that the employee comments on the “flying together” intranet site are universally roasting the designs. |
Thank goodness, this was by far the biggest issue UA has been facing

Terrible
They need to rethink the male FA uniforms. Tawdry. Way too much going on...
|
They do have some dramatic flair in the colors, but overall they look fine to me. I never was able to figure out where all of the different FA uniforms came from, so it would be nice to see some standardization. Will ALL FA's eventually have the same style uniform, or will we still see the mish mosh of multiple styles like they currently have?

Let's see: you have crappy, surly service; you consistently rank at the bottom for U.S. airlines (no small feat); and your international business class is an embarrassment featuring mostly planes with 8-across coffin seats. What's the obvious fix? Get new uniforms!
In case you don't believe, the latest rankings were in the WSJ today: https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-bes...=hp_lead_pos10 |
