  • United Airlines (NASDAQ:UAL) says it will add 1.6K premium seats to about 250 international and domestic aircraft as part of a push for a bigger slice of the premium market.
  • The new premium seating initiative will include first-class cabins on 50 Bombardier regional jets and more first class seats on its Airbus A-320s.

And apparently an increase on the A319 from 8F to 12F.

Our long national nightmare is over.

Please update the original post:

Why doesn’t UA increase F seating from 8 to 12 orto 16? It’s appalling when regional jets like 175/190 have more the same F capacity than this mainline aircraft!

F Seating disparity

A-319: 8 seats
CRJ 175 has 12

My point was that some regional jets have 50% more F than mainline. No need to mince words, the point is clear. Thankfully UA understood this dilemma and is finally fixing it. First time UA leads AA and DL in a LONG TIME.

Ha! Thanks for the note. I guess we know who really leads this whole market and it’s DL.

The E175s have more FC seats because the UAL SCOPE limits express carriers to no more than 76 seats. Without that, they'd likely have six FC seats and about 82 total seats.

I recall when C went form 24 to 12 F seats on the 753 ... that enhancement was later reverted. I'm glad to see the A319 change here.

NW actually had 16F on their 319s (along with most of their mainline fleet). DL pulled a row off the 319s shortly after the merger.
