Odd no premium cabin seating of any vintage. Suspect that would be of greater interest to the FT crowd.

I'm surprised that a retired UA 747 is worth $0 or worth more as parts -- are Larry and Sergey not interested in buying a spare? is Ernest Angley not looking to upgrade?

Maybe they're using them for parts to maintain the existing fleet of IPTE seats over the next 5 years of Polaris retrofits.

I told my wife I'm buying this and bolting them to the middle of the living room floor so that I feel at home when I'm at the house.

The majority of IPTE seats (3-class aircraft) are the first of the retrofits, the 2-class (mostly non-IPTE) aircraft plans are less certain. There is going to be no shortage of IPTE spares.

Nobody's really wanted a middle seat on a 747 for over 45 years - now you think someone's gonna pay to get one permanently? The current bid suggests the value of a middle seat is minus 25,000 miles.

Larry and Sergey can have their choice of any of the hundreds that are for sale and (or) mothballed in the desert. FWIW, if they really wanted one they should take a former SQ 744's before even looking at a UA 744 frame.

Just imagine the "treasures" one might find inside those premium seats. Ipads, Phones, broken cashews. It's like a time capsule.

This reminds me a little of the Delta surplus sales where you can buy a lav door, landing gear, food cart, etc. I wish UA had the same thing.

If I recall, the delta museum has the 767 the employees bought for the airline. It would be cool if UA had a museum where they stuck the final 747

Very cool. I'm torn between the window and "livery panel."

What exactly is a livery panel? I'm leaning towards that since it'll say United and the window won't. But I suppose they may annotate the window too (as shown in the livery photo).

When I read the first line of the OP I though I'd be able to buy a lav. Now that would be a conversation piece.

If I could get a set of four together, though, I could use it as a couch.
