SFO weather delays 6 Jan 2019
Just landed from KIX and sitting on the taxiway waiting for a gate. It might be a while since the aircraft at our gate doesn’t even have clearance yet due to weather. We landed on 19L one set of runways is probably closed.
Onward flight to YYC originally scheduled for 12:55pm is cancelled, and im rerouted via DEN for a 10pm arrival. Not really what I needed after already flying MEL-PVG-KIX-SFO, but it could be worse I guess...
looks like it’s going to be a long day

Flew out of SFO last night. Scheduled 11:30 pm departure pushed to 1:30 am because of late-arriving aircraft, which hadn't received departure clearance (IAD-SFO-IAD). All the other gates nearby had flights with similar issues. I was offered the opportunity to switch to another flight, although as I don't live in SFO, coming back the following morning isn't an attractive option.

I was watching arrivals on FlightAware for a few hours while flying in from LHR yesterday morning. I think I saw about six flights do go-arounds... one Alaska plane tried to land twice then just diverted to SAC. Felt like a pretty unusual volume of go-arounds in a small period of time. This was when planes were landing on 10L or 10R (not sure which); things seemed to get much better when they switched to 19.

I was rebooked on the 2:35 DEN flight which was subsequently delayed 2 hours resulting in a certain misconnect.
Now rebooked again on the 1:20pm DEN flight (inbound just arrived at the gate) connecting to a 7:20pm DEN-YYC. So this should get me home tonight. And I’m #3 on the upgrade list on a 777 with 15 empty seats. Didn’t expect that.
Funny moment when sitting on the taxiway after coming in from KIX. the captain was great at keeping us informed about all the delays and then told us “I have to connecting flight to make it home too, so I’m eager to get to the gate as much as you are”

Should be a great day for gate upgrades with so many inbound delays and cancels.

My LAS-SFO flight finally posted a 2 hour delay. The inbound did take off and is expected to arrive 45 minutes late. At least the aircraft is enroute (and hopefully United doesn't reschedule it).

And the 4:49pm one was cancelled. Fingers crossed that my later evening flight doesn’t get hit too bad.
