Is this even possible...140k award miles in one year? $10K budget

Is it going to be possible for someone to acquire 140,000 United Miles in 1 year if they only have $10k to spend? Obviously this goal will only be reached with bonuses of some sort.

At this time, the bonus for thee Chase United Plus Miles personal card was received in the last year.

The only thing I could come up with is applying for the Chase United Plus Miles Business card (50k miles bonus)...only 90k to go.

Spend on what? I mean, the trivial answer here is you can spend it directly on miles.

Sure - mileage runs, google flights, etc all work fine. You can fly to Europe in Y for $800 and get 12000 or so miles. Repeat 12 times and you’ve spent 10k for 140k miles.

PQMs, sure, but you can’t get anywhere near 12K redeemable miles for $800 in Y these days.

For 140k award miles - see the partner offers page (https://www.united.com/ual/en/us/fly...us/offers.html). you can spend $7k on flowers at FTD and get $7k * 20 miles/dollar = 140k award miles.

Is it possible flying solely partners on non-016 stock?

If you find a good collection of mistake fares, perhaps. But if you look at the earnings tables for partner airlines, they offer 0-50% of flown distance for discount fare classes. So you’d likely have to find something that was $800 but mistakenly filed as a Y or business class fare.

Spend the $10k to meet credit card bonus spending requirements.

If you want the 140000 miles for a trip, then you need to visit the manufactured spend forum/websites (assuming they still exist). The credit card signup bonuses are a good place to start.

Depends what kind of 'miles' you are looking for.

If you can find BULK (consolidator) tickets, you can still get 50% of flown miles even on G fare tickets.

1Ks and GSs earn 11xPQDs on UA ticket stock, so $10K PQDs is 110K award bonus. Lower elites earn less

and then there is the world of Manufactured Spending

Don't forget about the miles earned by charging those flights on the MP credit card. That's another 20-30K depending on the specific card.

An additional 20K RDMs if a United Chase card is used to buy tickets from United brings the total RDMs to 130K, but if the total budget is $10K a portion of that will be spent on taxes that do not earn RDMs (unless OP is somehow tax exempt). And the FTD deal is $3K cheaper and doesn't even require flying anywhere.

The best "MP" credit card is the CSR, for 3x UA miles which would bring the total to 14x. Move some of that onto a new account bonus and you could hit it with 10k spend instead of PQD. But really, at this point, just get 12k PQD and also qualify for 1K.

Would but that 12K PQD would qualify one for 1K. Those were the days! ;)

Of course, it’s now 15K. :(
