Booked in April
Applied GPUs on 5/21, cleared instantly

Upgrade instantly cleared for all 4 of us (family). Three on 1 PNR and one on another. Waited to be sure I could get at least two of us upgraded as we are traveling with a 4 and 2 year old.

Been stalking this for months for my last hurrah as 1k, and finally the right combo showed up.

SFO-SIN UA1
Oct 23
W to PZ1
May 21, cleared at purchase.

SIN-SFO UA28
Nov 5
W to PZ6
May 21, cleared at purchase.

UA1/28 were my preferred flights to save a couple nights of hotel in SIN.

I searched SFO-SIN and SIN-SFO GPU successes posted on this thread. All of them have travel dates on either Tuesday or Wednesday. I did not see any report on other days of the week.
I am interested in booking SFO-SIN on Thursday (UA 1, 10:55 pm) and SIN-SFO on Saturday (UA 28, 9 pm). I guess that the chances for success are greater than the alternative flights on the same days. I may be wrong for UA 1 vs. UA 29 on Thursday.

I don't recall ever seeing PZ space on Thursday/Saturday. I feel like UA1 feels like is more rare than UA29, but UA 28 seems a little easier than UA2?

This one was unexpected
IAD - BCN
June 23rd
V to PZ
Booked - May 21st
Cleared - May 24th

Reason for the surprise is had 3 GPU's clear all at once , so whole family will be in Polaris. Too bad it is 767-400 and 2-1-2 config with no Polaris lounge in IAD , but still very happy for family vacation

I've never tried to GPU SFO-SIN myself, but based on what I've seen flying both flights in both directions a few times, UA28/29 are probably the easier two flights. UA1 is a tough upgrade in my experience.

Agreed, mine was a Tuesday (12/23). UA 28 had more open seats than UA 1.

1. CDG-IAD
2. July 4
3. O to J
4. Buyup from L to R on May 29
5. May 29

Website did not show PZ availability but R fare was low so did buyup. (Interestingly 1K agent said buyup was not available but they waived the change fee as a one time courtesy.) As soon as 1K agent applied GPU the upgrade went through (although did report issues with using it on a different thread).

Thus a success rate now of 6 out 9, although had two failed GPU attempts. Much harder to use GPUs on red eyes where it really matters to me.

1. EWR-TXL
2. June 1st
3. W
4. Y-J
5. 6 month
6. T-24 after check in as the result of an equipment change.
I got really lucky on this one 763 was completely booked in polaris, changed the aircraft into an 764 with 9 more polaris seats and waitlist cleared 24h ahead.
So this year I’m at 3 out of 3, whereat 2 GPU’s were applied fur EU-US-South America where 1 GPU upgrades 2 long-haul segments
