5. Purchased 9/24/19
6. Cleared in early March, 2019
Now really hoping that TPE-SFO on 4/12/19 will clear. Would upgrade to PP and continue waitlisting for PZ if the website would allow me too… the price to do so on the phone is not workable.

Work to an email this morning (used to them arriving on Monday not Saturday).
1. ORD-CDG
2. W fare
3. Flight is July 2019
4. Booked January 2019
5. Upgrade to J in March 2019.
On the same reservation
1. CDG-SFO
2. W fare
3. Flight is June 2019
4. Booked January 2019
5. Upgrade to J in March 2019
1. SYD-SFO
2. W fare
3. Flight is July 2019
4. Booked January 2019
5. Upgrade to J at time of booking
Still waiting for the SFO-SYD and SFO-ORD legs to be upgraded but happy with the dynamic processing of all these upgrades (I did not call in but waited for the system to work and it did).
Separate reservation
1. SFO-SIN
2. W fare
3. Flight is July 2019
4. Booked February 2019
5. Upgrade to J at time of booking
1. SIN-SFO
2. W fare
3. Flight is July 2019
4. Booked February 2019
5. Upgraded to J at time of booking
Did not check for PZ availability. System handled it appropriately. Domestic legs not upgraded (okay with that!)
Still waiting for my March/April 2019 LHR flights but am hoping these happen at the gate, especially as one of the GPUs is from last year. Also waiting for a May flight SFO-FRA but trying the new PP on that flight. Still have another two GPUs to apply for travel later in the year but if the LHR flight in March comes through I think UA may be getting the additional PQD they want from me to be 1K next year.

2. June 17
3. W
4. W->PZ
5. 3 months
6. 3 months minus 2 hours. Flight was PZ0 when I booked it and applied the GPU. I confirmed that I showed as waitlisted for the upgrade. I went into my reservation a few hours later and it showed me upgraded to PZ. I did not receive any e-mail confirming the upgrade. Seems like a strange coincidence - is it perhaps giving some evidence that UA will periodically sweep flights with a waiting list to (algorithmically of course) reconsider PZ availability? (or is that giving UA too much credit and I should just chalk it up to pure luck)

1. IAH-GIG-IAH
2. April 10-14
3. XN
4. Y to C
5. Booked March 13
6. IAH-GIG cleared at booking; GIG-IAH cleared the next day
60K roundtrip miles + 2 GPUs = pretty good value.

on full fare Y ... who would not want to make that UG happen. Based on LH's focus on booking class the OP was probably #1 on the UG list.

The fare was already paid. The point is that LH prioritizes UA GPUs because they receive additional cash for those upgrades, beyond the initial fare. The same result likely would have held if OP were on a Q fare. The fact the first upgrade went through within 20 minutes shows this had nothing to do with a waitlist, and everything to do with LH grabbing the cash.
