Booked 2/10/19, cleared 10 days out

I was nervous about this one, but J sales absolutely stalled three weeks out.

Interesting data on number of pax cleared off the waitlist . . . J cabin was booked 36/60 last night and this morning it's booked 47/60. Meanwhile PP cabin dropped from booked 20/24 to 12/24.

2. March 29
3. U
4 . U -> PZ
5. 6 weeks in advance
6. Upgrade cleared on March 26

This was a gamble that there would be an equipment change and it was. The original booking was in the 2-4-2 configuration and plane was swapped to true Polaris configuration and have to say it was pretty great

Hello again,

Just thought I'd let everyone know that the GPU Successes has been updated to this point. Simply click the GPU Offers tab to see all offers up to this point. Also note that this spreadsheet has more than just GPU offers, it also has ToD buy-ups, CPU offers and the like which may also inform your decision on whether to roll the dice with a GPU or take the ToD offer.

Sadly, I'll be away from FT for the next couple of weeks/months as I continue my studies in the UK. If anyone is interested in carrying the mantle of UA spreadsheets/tools, feel free to PM me. Otherwise, expect these tools to be updated around Fall of this year.

Safe Travels,

James

This is not a great name for this, and mixing this data with cash offers for upgrades -- such as those made at booking, post booking, at check-in, .... could be very confusing. Cash offers do not require a minimum fare (and can even occur for award tickets) and there is no waitlist. And you may earn PQM bonus. All very different from GPUs
And this name choice could lead people to think this is what a "GPU" could be purchased for. And this upgrade space availability is equally accessible to those using miles.

Perhaps "GPU Sucess". "Successful supported upgrades", ...

Good point! Initially, I had the various offer upgrades segregated (i.e. CPU, GPU and ToD). However, I believe there were some requests by people on the forum to merge it all together to make it easier to compare upgrade offers. For instance, suppose I'm planning on upgrading my EWR to FRA flight booked several months out. One question I might want to know is whether it makes more sense to use the GPU now (where I might be guaranteed to get an upgrade if PZ>0) or roll the dice and wait for a ToD to come by since those GPUs are more valuable now given the introduction PY on UA.

Would love to hear other spreadsheet user's thoughts on how this should be organized!

Cheers,

James

Agree: the link is VERY confusing!
At the very least it would be good if link defaults to SHEET #3 (GPU OFFERS).
Not sure if this works....let's see: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...#gid=137362158

Updated the descriptor for the link and the URL it points to so it goes directly to the GPU Success tab (now renamed). Also renamed spreadsheet to just be United Upgrades to keep it more generic.

Feel free to let me know of any other improvements that can be made, as I'll be off FT in a couple of days to head back to studies.

Safe Travels,

James
