A horredously disappointing flight. The crew were overwhelmed and understaffed. I later overheard them complaining in the galley that this was a domestic flight but they had to work it like an international one. The right aisle got just water for a PDB. I was in the left aisle and I flagged down an FA and got a cup of warm sparkling water. The entire dinner service took three hours.
Half a cup of nuts
Two slices of tasteless chicken and a weird salad. No bread
The turbot which was actually really good. My companion's short rib was overcooked and bad
At least the warps and snack basket were nice. Between the meal and the service I absolutely regretted paying for J on this flight.

Same experience for me on the same flight. Ex-Con FAs complaining about too much work and dinner taking three hours.

And yet United doesn't have any issues getting people to fly them. Didn't they just have their best ever quarter in terms of earnings?

If they served a main course similarly plated like the duck appetizer, then people are going to complain about the portion size. This is a no win situation for any airline, unless they have a dedicated catering employee/person wearing the chef hat doing all the cooking and plating.

Compared to my recent mid-con on AA (ORD-MIA), which isn’t even a premium route, the meal just looks sad.

You should see the "Paneer" meal that UA offers on midcons. I'm not into avmeal photography, but I've had that meal induce queasiness just by looking at it.

I just flew on Alaska recently and they're rolling out pre-order capabilities to all US flights this year. I haven't heard a peep from United about their plans.

Honestly, I am usually very picky on presentation and thought it looked just fine. It was even served on a nice plate and not a casserole dish.

That's a pretty impressive mid-con AA meal! Hopefully someone at United is taking note of the competition and steps up their game...

EWR-IAH 30 July 500 pm (delayed to 815 pm) Polaris 772 seat 1A
Tandoori chicken or cold soba noodle with chicken. The repetition and lack of rotation are getting pathetic. Polaris seat was nice on a domestic flight. Tried the rose, which was not bad. Good crew.

Yeah saw your post yesterday and then read about UA following suit on TMG. You called it, seems like a step in right direction.
