Sounds like PP will be 3 rows of 2x2x2. And Polaris goes to 7 rows instead of 8?

they’re doing a single-row mini-cabin on the 788

Any idea when all the ex-UA 777-200s will be converted (the ones with the 2-4-2 forward and rear facing lie flats). My wife has a flight in late November in J that is currently scheduled on one of these (ORD-MUC) and was wondering the likelihood that it would end up being a post-conversation 777-200.

By November there should be very few 2-4-2 3-class aircraft (72J), there are 6 remaining to be converted to Polaris seats -- but there are 4 others that may be converted to 72G, unsure when that will occur.

The 2-4-2 in the high-density 772s (72G) are not being converted. (but those are not used for MUC)

A bit odd.
Currently between Doors 2 and 3
9 rows of E+ @35 = 315 inches. 3 rows of Y @ 31= 93 total 408 inches

Proposed without changes to galleys, etc.
3 rows of PE @38 inches =114 inches, 6 rows of E+ @34=204, 2 rows of Y @ 31= 62, total 380. Would give 28 inches for aisle adjustment from PE to E+. But that would net 10 few total Y seats, not the 5 predicted and can't be the solution.

However I guess something like this is going on:
UA may be moving E+ seats to windows and more Y in the center like the 76L, 8 rows at the windows and 9 rows in the center with a 2 seat pair at the start of E+ for transition.

This would work:
Windows, 3 PE rows @38 and 8 E+ rows @ 34 to 35, leaves 14 to 22 inches for transition from PE to E+
Center, 3 PE rows @38, 5 E+ rows @34 and 4 rows of Y @31 would equal 408 inches. Assume 1st rows of E+ is 2 across for transition. That equals -5 in total Y seating. Since that leaves no transition from PE to E+, galley may be moved/slimmed or fewer E+ vs Y rows.

With fewer middle seats in the Polaris section, it could be that the galley in front of PE could be moved tin front of Door 2.

Flying LAX-MEL next summer (June 2020), and it's showing the pmCO 787-9 seat map. In any likely reality will those planes be updated to the new Polaris cabin in the next 330 days? I ask because I'm flying with two adults and two younger kids in J, and it's a rare time where the 2-2-2 seat map is preferable as I can get window aisle and contain the rugrats. If it's likely going to be swapped I'd grab middle pairs to at least be seated next to each other. Thanks for any thoughts and sorry if this is the wrong thread to ask this.

I think it’s highly unlikely. At that point, there will only be a couple birds retrofitted (if that), and I think the 788s are going first. Outside chance if you get one of the new-delivery 789s on the route, but still a low probability.

Actually, the 788 has 6 rows = 36 J-seats; 3 rows in front / 3 behind the galley.

Believe the reference is to the layout post-retrofit.

Any chance for a Polaris sUA 772 for my IAD-NRT or NRT-ORD flights in mid September? Current seat maps are both 2-4-2.

Interesting.. I wonder if that will include the retrofit of some of the 772ER to 77G configuration for EWR/IAD-HNL, since it would be strange to have regularly scheduled PE seats on the routes. That or they could sell PE there; I suppose the end of 2020 is a long way off.

That's in the works. I understand it's primarily for ORD-HNL/OGG and EWR-HNL. ORD routes are currently subject to periodic weight restrictions and EWR is not economical with an A-market 772 in the 77G configuration. IIRC it's going to be 4 of the non-Polaris 772ER. The outstanding fleet site maintained by our fellow contributors has the exact tail numbers.

Is 4 frames enough for 3x daily? Seems like no matter what it couldn't include IAD too.
