Is N505UA (28J 757-222) still coming out of retirement (from February)?

Ferry flights for return-to-service were scheduled a few weeks back, but cancelled - and nothing else is on the docket that I can see.

So depending on when the grounding of the MAX is lifted (assuming mid summer), it appears UA will have somewhere between 4 and 7 39Ms ready for delivery, does anyone know if the plan is to take them as soon as they can or will the deliveries be spaced out?

I did hear the WN was wanting to continue taking delivery of the MAX and then parking them at VCV, but don't think UA has the same intention.

Guess it depends on your definition of Summer

All posts I've seen point to mid August as earliest when MAX would return to service.

Well technically I have until September 20 to still consider it summer . And if it gets super delayed I will just claim that I meant Southern Summer or Summer 2020 😁

CRJ550 is technically a different plane than the CRJ700, even though it is the same body, it has a lower MTOW. From reading of the UA press release about this it says they will be delivered, I believe these are net adds to the fleet and not mods. UA is doing this to get around the scope clause so I don't think they will be removing any CRJ-700s when taking the 550s

No. A rare typo by Bunky. N675UA is going to HKG.

I don't believe that's true. AFAIK they're the existing CR7 frames, with new interiors, I think the MTOW reduction is intentional on those frames.

While it will have its own certification, the CRJ-550 is almost certainly a reconfiguration of existing CRJ-700s.

The Bombardier CRJ order book only shows 51 planes left, all CRJ-900s. https://www.bombardier.com/content/d...-Status-en.pdf If they haven't booked a 50-plane order as of the end of March, there is no way they could realistically build brand new jets and start delivering them "as early as the second half of 2019" as the press releases state.

The positioning of the airplane as "new" is pure marketing... these are existing CRJ-700s which are being derated with gross weight reduced in a STC package owned and sold by Bombardier. Bombardier is winding down the CRJ program and won't be building any new frames.

I believe they'll receive new interiors, however, so from the customer's perspective they'll look and feel new.
