Wait ..... WHAT

They are acquiring and retiring at the same time

Just too many cycles or close to D checks?

Just seems kinda odd ....

Not to doubt your street cred (AFAIK, you are 100% on your info) But do you have anymore color on this?

But I agree with EmailKid seems quite odd to retire unless some sort of extenuating circumstance (damage, problem, cursed airframe). It appears unencumbered, and is about 18 years old (so not the oldest of the 319 deliveries).

Is N835UA on the exit list, or just storage?

It's not exactly a low-hour airframe, roughly the upper 1/3 of the in-service UA 319s and approaching a HMV.

It could be a part-out ship for United to support the existing fleet. Plenty of rotable parts still have lots of life left.

319:

N803UA sked to exit SFO 780/5Nov with 12F config

N835UA, don't understand if this unit still has a few weeks left in it prior to a check, why not kept to free another 319 for 12F config mod

Could be that lower wing skin AD isn't worth it, better to buy low-time used frames to replace?

I just had #3011 swapped in for DEL-EWR (surviving the smog) which is pmCO retrofit. I selected 15L which was the only inset-window seat available but also read that is often reserved crew rest and dont want to be booted to an angled seat. I want to fully enjoy my first new Polaris ride after 75+ hours in the old diamond seats this year.

Do we have better info on where/how crew rest is laid out & used for ULH on the pmCO birds, especially after retrofit? It seems like there is good info on the -222 ER birds on the fleet site but less so for the -224s.

AD = airworthiness directive?

Looks like there was an AD specific to the lower wing skin panel #1.

I have been on the Polarized PMCO 772s a couple of times and UA has done a good job refit the PMCO 772s to be consistent with the Polarized PMUA 772s... at least I cannot notice any differences other than the air nozzles are not available on the PMCO 772s.

Seat 1A has been used as crew rest in my 10+ Polarized 772 flights (both PMUA and PMCO).

Seat 15A/L has become my favorite seat on the Polarized 772. Other than having to deal with economy passengers during the boarding process, I have found these two seats really quiet as all the walking traffics are in front of row 15, and I can monitor the bathroom availabilities/traffic in front of me. I asked my partner to try it last week, and she has now found her preferred seat.

I'm on N797SK (CR7) this morning and there's very much refreshed F and Y seat covers. Still no power and I believe it's not ATG4. I know the RJ refresh was just announced at the Media day last week, but were the CR7's planned to get this as well?

They only plan to refurbish the E145, no plan to update the CR7 has been announced, but they have had updated seat covers for a few years now.
