It's not necessarily a cost factor, it's more of a convenience factor for Dow employees. When I was consulting for Dow years ago, I was told that the charter flights offered enhanced meals and one could show up 20min before departure and not have to go through TSA security checks. Based on my observation of the commercial flights and I flew NW(!) at the time, most passengers were consultants for Dow.

That's not to say that a CRJ550 might help in capturing some of the premium international traffic MBS-ORD-xxx. But since DL flies CRJ200 to MBS, then UA will continue to copy like usual.

In addition to the CR2, DL flies bigger regional jets that offer first class seating on the DTW-MBS route. Maybe United should copy that. Of course there are lots of cities that see First Class seats on DL and none on United. So there are plenty of opportunities for the 550 to capture International connecting business class traffic for UA. I canít wait to be the beneficiary of the 550 on my trips to small midwest markets.

Good progress with the sUA 777's. 70% done. What do you think the % will be at the end of the year? And, when will the first 788/9 go in for Polaris? Thanks!

Looks like UA is going to be adding the MAX 8 to its fleet with first delivery scheduled for February 2020. Also MAX 9 orders have been reduced.

A/C #s for the max 8 so far will be:

7251 - 7254 (likely up to 7270)

Max 10 orders appear to remain at 100.

As there is an active discussion thread on the MAX series, B737MAX [Grounded as of 13 March 2019] let's continue any discussion on this decision in that thread.

Ya, the hard landing at EWR a couple or so weeks ago. Sadly the more efficient sCO with RR engines IIRC.

Kind of bad time with MAX grounding ....

Yes but they now have a few under utilized 777s due to the India suspensions, so I think they will be able to make it work.

N658UA entered HKG 2760/6Jul for Polaris conversion. Unsure if the 7 originally-not-to-be-converted 763s will get the 46J or 30J configuration??
