Polaris tracker (which usually isn't accurate) says 21 772s are converted (meaning very recently updated) and 3 are in mod. Therefore N78001 might not have been in mod, nor the other GE-powered 772 sitting in HKG for a month. Not sure about N57016 either.

No need to fret... N78001 ("Gordon M. Bethune") is officially in the Polaris/PE configuration, as confirmed by the seat map for its first revenue flight, UA896/18APR. Roughly a 2-month stay, so if the other two 777-224ER at HAECO are in for the mod, we should expect to see them back in service in mid-May. Unclear at the moment whether another sCO 772 frame will replace N78001 at HKG.

The seat map was switched very late and now shows Polaris/PE. The flight is delayed 20 minutes due to “operational reasons”, which I wonder if it’s due to last minute seat swaps.
Gordon will be happy. And good to know that there’s at least one 772 mod line still running at HKG.
The (official) UA Polaris tracker is usually 2-3 steps behind the FlyerTalkers, especially Bunky and Co who do a great job tracking all the mods and other fleet maintenance. :-)

Just a note... 772 N57016 should say it entered HKG on 4/16 not 3/16

The fleet wiki is fantastic but why still have separate sections(rows) for Polaris-ized PW & GE 777s?

Good question:
1.) 772ERs have different codes and fleet numbers. Completed pmUA=77N, pmCO=77E
2.) Provides better visual tracking of completed vs. total fleet of each engine type.
3.) Once complete, it will appear like 738s, which have a simple row between differences in that group of aircraft.
I have added a blurb at top of PW powered units to scroll down for GE poered units - maybe this will help.
Note the Polaris/PE page that has totals of the entire fleet has the pmUA and pmCO units separated as one column would be way too long to view.
788:
N13013 entered AMA paint 2761/18Apr, probable first widebody with new livery.

Other than observing that 1A/1B are no longer a lav, I didn't compare the PMUA and PMCO* Polaris-converted 772s too closely. Are the layouts now identical on the modified aircraft?
*I suppose it would be more accurate (like others have already said) to say PW vs. GE 777-200ER rather than PMUA vs. PMCO. I hope it's clear what I'm talking about, but let me know if it isn't.

I think so... it looks like a lav was added to the -224s in the fwd section immediately aft of the cockpit. I wonder if those ships still have the bunks in the same area, or if a forward overhead crew rest facility was added to match the 77W?

They just look odd at certain points of the plane due to the retrofit. I guess one could tell simply by looking at the overhead bins what 777 basis the polarization originated from.
