Cancelled trip: Value if not used within one year
Might have asked this before or seen a similar question, but time is running out. The BH's had a TPAC ticketed for an itinerary in January, 2018, but got caught up in the (then) flu epidemic so had to cancel (and have a medical excuse for this). Various circumstances have led to using other carriers for all biz & personal travel for the balance of 2018. So it looks like we have UA tix (or a credit) that we won't be able to use by January, 2019. What happens to the value (if any) of those tix ... does it forfeit or live on as some sort of credit usable in the future.

There's a thread on turning it into an ETC, though. Basically, purchase as cheap a ticket as you can find, pay the change fee, and the remaining fare value will become an ETC. This should work for most UA fares, but check in advance. (There are a few fares that don't allow refunding residual value).
