That's an expensive ticket!

Upgraded a class of service on an award for travel on AC. Previously a one-class cabin. Due to an equipment swap I wanted to move from Y to J.

Calling in to UA, the computer priced the change at an additional 12.5k miles plus..... drumroll.... $80,000.00 USD

AC must have upped their game in J!

Maybe they made a currency error and it was supposed to be a mere 80,000 CAD.

Wish I did too. Unfortunately it was the phone and the agent confirmed the amount the computer was coming up with. She was apologetic and knew it was an error. Someone straightened it out on the back end and they waived the change fee (which I'm not sure I should have been charged in the first place, but no matter since it was waived).

Changing the class of service on an award does trigger the change fee.
