I had 6A on a sUA 777 early next month (GPU cleared at booking), and now I'm in 2A. Thanks, FlyerTalk!

BTW, why are they now showing 3-4-3 in Y on this configuration?

Probably in case of equipment swaps.

Currently coded policy seems to be GS/1K and companions get access.

And my wife who is Platinum and on her own reservation managed to get a seat. I guess she will be checking her seat every day for the next month and a half.........

I just booked a Z fare on a 3-cabin international flight over the phone with a GS agent. She said, "You are welcome to select a seat in the front cabin as a GS." A change I can like^ While it lasts :)

Agree that this is a great short term benefit. I'm actually considering changing a flight to Asia for this coming week to get access to the GF seat -- but I also like the new Polaris seat too -- so I'm torn lol

If <8 1K or GS in J, I wonder what the procedure will be. Open them at T24? Give them to the last minute bookings that have no seat assignment?

I suppose <8 1K/GS will be a rare occurance.

They are already open in advance for GS & 1K members. In this case, the early bird gets the worm.

Thank you FT, switched from 6K to 1K.

Right, but my question is what happens if fewer than 8 GS and 1K members are on the flight at check-in so not all of the former F seats are filled?

I see now that on all ORD-NRT flights the 777-200 configuration shows both the business and the GF as "business" now (i.e. all those seats are the same color, and listed as "business"). Does that mean those who buy a business class ticket can now chose those ex-GF seats?

The change happened last night. Best we can tell 1K and GS can select them at booking, but they are greyed out in seat selection for anyone else.

The more I read that it's only for 1K and GS, the more I worry that my wife who is Platinum will be kicked out of the seat she got today. On her own PNR. The seats in the First Class area were not greyed out for her. They were showing orange like the seats in the Business Class area. Does anyone else who is not 1K or GS and on their own PNR manage to get one of those seats?

Generally once you get a seat assignment (even in error), you are probably safe -- unless there is an aircraft swap.

Not only at booking. Also possible with existing reservations, where the 8 GF seats now become available.
