To find your PQDs if >than $12K
Go to
MileagePlus activity since my last statement and it is in the "Account summary" table at the top of the page.

Note this is not just the UA operated PQDs (which is commonly believed to be what matters for GS) but rather your total PQDs.

Definitions

BIS is actual scheduled flight distance (Great Circle Mileage Distance -- GCM) between airports with 500 mile minimum for elites. This is the standard used for Lifetime miles also. Those flying mostly sub-500 segments sometimes prefer to not use the minimum rule.

The definition for CPM is a bit vaguer, especially since CPM is used in multiple different situations.

Believe for the purpose of this thread, GS qualification, folks are using

PQD CPM = UA PQDs / UA BIS

Note there is no direct evidence UA uses this CPM number for GS Qualification but it is a number FTers like to use.

As for BIS, UA does not report this number your account and it needs to be manually tracked.

One way is to make use that PQMs are based on BIS but there may be a multiplier / bonus for high end fares. If always in 2x PQMs, you could divide by 2 to get BIS.

rwsteelers had a good method for determining UA BIS -- the change in Lifetime Miles from the first of the year.

Similar spreadsheets were created in years past, so I'm hoping to continue this tradition. Please take the time to enter your stats into the spreadsheet. Many thanks

2017: 162k PQM (all UA Metal) - 151 PQS - 43k PQD
2018 year-to-date: 169k PQM (all UA Metal) - 98.5 PQS - 54k PQD**
**Still have 1-2 trips SFO-Shanghai flights in Business Class and many short $500/round trip itineraries to go, projecting 63k PQD
Lifetime flight miles 485,000

Homebase is SFO, so it's a large hub with lots of high spenders. What do 'you' think are my chances of making GS?

Having followed it for the past several years and also with home base as SFO with PQD of $54K+ (all UA metal) even in SFO you have better than a 50/50 chance. I would say depending upon how you finally end up, even out of SFO with a > $50K spend you have actually a pretty good shot at GS. Just my 2 cents.

Hit 60k and I think it's in the bag. Even at 55, probably decent.

I can certainly hope... as if I qualify, it's going to give 2 people GS status as I am about to cross over 1MM.

I have never been GS before and just started working last year with travel. Spend last year was $20K and spend this year will be around $40K with 100K PQM and 90 PQS.
Do I stand a chance at all for getting GS this year?

Also - it looks like some notifications go out in December while others go out in January. What determines this? Thanks!

Where are you based. $40K is low with $20K the year before; might work for some smaller stations (which it sounds like you may be at given your PQS situation?)

Thanks. I was based out of ORD and now EWR. How much more spend would get me more comfortably within the threshold?

$20k more would be comfortable.

You could make it at $40k and 100k PQM, but it would be a bit of a surprise.

Based on the pattern of notifications it looks like the December early notices for GS are all requalification notices? Has anyone received first time GS qualification in December? Or has it all been in January?

Even though with my numbers I should not worried about it too much can’t help it but to wonder, I guess I will feel much better once I cross that 4 million Life time!! As of today here are my numbers

800,000 PQM 532 PQS and $153k PQD should end the year over 1.1M PQM and over 200k PQD
