Status of new permanent EWR United Clubs - preview 12 May, opening 18 May 2022?

Does anyone know if UA is planning on adding any new permanent large scale new United Clubs at EWR or are we going to be stuck with the awful 'pop-up'clubs?

Word is that construction will start soon (2020?) on a new club near C123.

Reportedly, construction is underway at the far end of the concourse one level up from the gate area, above the bank of restaurants. My conservative guess is it will be open by next summer. The C-1 club renovation will be progressive, closing sections at a time, hence the pop-up location in the 90s gates.

The two pop-up lounges only have beer/wine service and a more limited snack selection. Pretty dismal for a longer layover, but adequate for a quick stop to charge, as there are lots of power outlets and the pop-up locations are not as heavily patronized as the "real" C-1 club.

Between the awful state of United Clubs in Terminal C, and the OTG infestation of Terminal C, I greatly prefer most every aspect of Terminal A for domestic travel. The TSA security setup, with reliable PreCheck operating, is the only thing better in C.

The new facility was given its new name—Terminal One—to reflect the new standard for outstanding service at Newark Liberty International Airport.

My sources (a friend in the Port Authority and some nice attendants in the pop-up at C124) say that the people working on it are really focused on getting the new club open next summer. That said the original date was this winter.

You mean as in: they are deliberately delaying it to secure those precious prevailing wages for as long as possible?
