Perhaps for another thread - but do folks know if Terminal A is going to be demolished once Terminal 1 opens, or will it continue to exist as is?
My understanding is that the terminal itself is a historic structure and will remain. The banjs with the gates will be demolished.

A historic structure?! Really?

My educated guess is that once T1 opens, they can demolish A and build a new facility there to continue the growth. Maybe to replace B? Or even C?

Terminal One is expected to be partially open late next year and will have 33 gates with a future expansion to 45 that uses space currently occupied by Terminal A.
Additionally they are going to add a 3000 car garage, replace the monorail (target 2024) and have started examining replacing Terminal B.
The terminal One Plans include lots of room for multiple lounges.
All of this make me think that nothing will be done to the C1 lounge in the immediate future.
Any likely construction there may hang on concrete plans for UA in T1.
An article discussing T1, monorail and possible T2 is here:

If there are any experts who can answer this one, but just for the sake of argument, could they keep the main part of Terminal A and just tear down A1, A2 and A3 (i.e., everything from the security checkpoints on), and rebuild from from scratch from there?

I am not privy to the plans for the remainder of Terminal A, but here is what was said in the article referenced above:
"The new terminal is designed with the option to expand to 45 gates by extending its north wing to run alongside the old Terminal A headhouse, or main building."
Sounds like it is possible that they might chop off the banjos and then connect the (refurbished?) 'historic' headhouse to terminal one then build individual gates out of it.

From what I have seen, that is exactly what they are planning to d.

The best barometer of what they are capable of is wait for the shouting, waving of hands, and dust settle and see what's there.

I passed through Newark this morning and there was still work on the C3 United Club construction project there. Several workers going in and out and two JLG lifts driving around

Construction?

Not that it really matters considering all the bad stuff going on, but does anyone know if construction of the massive new UC is moving forward?

It was quiet as a tomb two weeks ago. I'm 't expect going to look in again on Monday. But I don't expect to see much.

According to this post from May 22 (which includes a nice picture) in this thread, construction is ongoing!

No - the whole company only has a handful of capital projects ongoing (mostly essential and/or pre-funded ones). Unfortunately, EWR C3 club isn't one of them

Understandable, but disappointing, if true.

I'd settle for any UC club to be reopened at EWR right now....this new club will be opened on UA time...which means don't expect it any time soon

I suspect it will be more on PANYNJ's time schedule primarily - not that UA's that quick either.
