One Way Fares Not Discounted Anymore?

My preference has always been to book separate one way fares vs. round trip. I've noticed lately that the one way fares book much more frequently into higher economy fares than in the past. It appears that less expensive one way economy fares are only available if booked as a part of a round trip itinerary. Seems to be a less friendly/transparent pricing system in that regard.

IME it depends on the destination. I looks at some tickets to PHL today, and 2 O/W's are pricing the same as R/T. But I looked at some intl trips, and those still price crazy O/W.

I think you're right. Mainly domestic. Observing this DEN-EWR, LGA, PHX and LAS.

They've definitely been doing this for more and more discount domestic fares. Fares ex-AUS used to be primarily priced on a one-way basis. I'm seeing more and more round-trip fares though, especially on non-BE fares.

This is, and has been, the norm in most markets from Houston, no change.

Seems to be an expansion of them from my booking patterns. Probably many still available, but ORD<->DAY seems to be effected, which wasn't before...

Discount one way fares on EWRDEN are a fairly new phenomenon. Not long ago, the lowest one way fares started at E around the ~$500 price point.
